Beth McKee-Huger, Executive Director

Beth is the Executive Director of the Greensboro Housing Coalition. She advocates for policies which promote affordable housing in safe condition, compiling information from the housing needs and problems of the people that GHC sees every day with city-wide data to raise awareness of unmet needs. Beth assures program outcomes and fiscal accountability for the organization. She has a master’s degree in social work and is ordained in the Episcopal church.

Dee Brown, Housing Counseling Team Manager

Deloris (Dee) is a housing counselor guiding people who are facing foreclosure towards more sustainable lives through looking at how they can manage their resources to have a place to live. To help people achieve their financial goals–such as buying a home or stabilizing their rental housing situation–she provides money management classes. Dee’s reassuring and dependable manner is so valuable to GHC’s capacity to respond to housing needs every day. She has an MBA and years of management experience in business and non-profits.

Umba Mwika, Housing Counselor

Umba Mwika counsels homeowners and tenants, helps people get into housing, and provides information and referral.  Umba speaks French, Portuguese, Swahili, and other languages from Congo, Africa. She holds a BA in Sociology with a minor in International Relations from Greensboro College.  Why Umba works for GHC,  in her own words:  "I am working at Greensboro Housing Coalition because of my people skills and my friendly and caring attitude towards people.  Coming from a Third World Country I have seen first hand the opportunities and the freedoms in the United States. I enjoy sharing the opportunity and success that I have had with others and showing others how it is possible."

Erlinda (Linda) Roman, Housing Counselor

Linda Roman's dedication and fluency in Spanish are making a tremendous contribution to GHC's Hispanic outreach.

Maseta Dorley, Homeless Prevention Rapid Re-Housing Team Manager

Maseta Dorley’s experience as a patient advocate and discharge coordinator with mental health facilities enables her to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with agencies and organizations in the human services field. She brings enthusiasm, commitment to serving others, and creative ideas about outreach and fundraising. Maseta has a BA in Human Development and Family Studies, and a BS in Psychology.  Maseta is inspired by these words from Lee Iacocca:  The thing that lies at the foundation of positive change, the way I see it, is service to a fellow human being.

Dominica Hewett, Homeless Prevention Rapid Re-Housing Case Manager

Dominica Hewett is a case manager, helping individuals and families to access decent affordable rentals. As a Behavioral Health Specialist in the Army Reserve, she has valuable experience helping people with disabilities overcome enormous challenges in order to maintain housing.

Frances McRae, Homeless Prevention Rapid Re-Housing Case Manager

Frances McRae brings many years experience working with children and their families.  Through the HPRP program, she provides case management to help people who are homeless (or about to lose their housing) to become able to pay their housing costs.

Monika Gauthier, Homeless Prevention Rapid Re-Housing Case Manager

Monika Gauthier is thorough, compassionate, and committed to helping others: a great combination in the HPRP program to move people quickly to self-sufficiency.

Brett Byerly, Housing Locator

Brett is the Housing Locator for the HPRP Program. He comes to the agency with a decade of experience in residential inspections. He has a human service background as well, coming to GHC from Family Service of the Piedmont.  Brett is able to work clients with barriers to help stabilize their housing situation. Brett also does landlord outreach programs and recruitment of new landlords in effort to get them to work with clients with numerous housing barriers. His experience in inspecting the components and systems in homes and apartments also help lead to placing clients in safer housing.

Myron Huie, Peer Support

Myron Huie assists people who have moved from homelessness, as they learn to take responsibility for their new housing. 

Skip Crowe, Healthy Homes Team Manager

With a broad business background, Skip Crowe has been reaching out to mortgage lenders, health care professionals, realtors, faith communities, and rental property owners to talk with them about the ways in which safe, affordable housing benefits their goals and our whole community.  As a Healthy Homes Specialist, he works with multifamily rental owners, tenants, and pest control professionals to eliminate pests effectively and safely through Integrated Pest Management.

Willena Cannon, Healthy Homes Organizer

Willena, our Healthy Homes Organizer, has been doing community organizing in Greensboro for 45 years, helping people know that they can work together to make their own lives better. She is getting a national reputation among healthy home advocates for her work to eliminate substandard housing in Greensboro, doing outreach and education about lead paint hazards and other health risks in housing. Willena has an amazing ability to establish rapport with people and build their trust so that they are ready to stand up for themselves.

Michelle Headley, Housing Counselor

Michelle Headley’s dependability, helpfulness, and professional manner serve GHC well as she keeps the organization running smoothly.  She helps homeowners facing foreclosure to take steps in the complex process of negotiating with their lenders.

Bexton Carmichael, "First Responder" and Intake Specialist

Bexton Carmichael: As the First Responder I am responsible for all incoming calls and messages. I also assist all visitors of the office in any capacity.  I direct each person to the designated department and make sure our office is always a pleasant and friendly visit for everyone. Outside of my position as the first responder I assist the office team with any faxing,filing,and copying that is necessary. I have ample experience in customer service, office assistance, education, and visual arts which allows me to be a true asset to our work team. Working for the Greensboro Housing Coalition is a pleasure and I truly enjoy it! 

Asad Abdullah, Americorps Member 

Asad Abdullah, originally from Sudan, earned a masters in financial management in India.  He brings fluency in four languages (Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, and English) to his Americorps service through the Center for New North Carolinians. And he brings his energy and systematic record-keeping to GHC!
